This worked perfectly for me, thanks! Lucky for me this happened while I was remote and had another remote solution in place ( I was able to use logmein to follow the "I let windows fix my problem for me" and all is well. Using this applet, users can specify the URL of a web feed which will integrate all RemoteApp programs, session-based desktops and virtual machine-based desktops into the Start Menu under a new program group. Next thing you know, Windows OS will be hitting our "power buttons" instead of the other way around. Windows 7 client computers Windows 7 client computers include a new RemoteApp and Desktop Connection control panel applet. Weird how it just seemed to change on its own all by itself from the moment I went to sleep last night until the moment I woke up this morning. it is something to do with the firewall, because when I disabled the firewall, I was able to connect. This fixed this authentication problem for me without having to downgrade the RDP client, add in authentication rules etc. If it doesn't work, go back to the wizard and say that it did or didn't work. (scary, I know) Go to Network and Sharing Center Click on Troubleshoot Problems (bottom link on the page) Click Incoming Connections Click Next to start the Wizard Choose "Connect ot this computer using Remote Desktop Connection" After a few seconds, try to connect via RDP again. I hope that someone has a better solution.

Mabey the security update enforces you to have multiple accounts on your computer.? I would think that's strange but you never know with MS. I think that some kind of update has changed the security configuration of Windows7 to login with RDP. After I configured to enable the admin account and an extra user account I could login my computer again. Regards, René I have tested with multiple user accounts and I didn't receive the error message again.

Does anyone have a proper solution? I don't want to have multiple user accounts on my computer. From my prior blog article Enabling Windows 7 Remote Desktop and Remote Assistance, one needs to have remote assistance properly configured in order to offer or respond to a Remote Assistance request.Remote Assistance was designed more for a standard user to request assistance than for an expert to offer assistance, though both approaches are attainable. Remote Desktop Connection allows you to take full control of a remote computer (including exclusive access to the Desktop, documents, programs, etc.), while Windows Remote Assistance allows you to give partial control to your own computer (shared desktop, mouse and keyboard) in order to get help from a remote friend or technical person. It's turned of, so I don't think that's the solution. I didn't configure the sleep mode in Windows7. It seems to be the problem, I still need to test it.

My problem started again after I disabled the administrator account en deleted my old user account. :-( Again I experience the problem "Remote Desktop Connection - An authentication error has occurred (Code: 0x80090308)" It looks like it has to do with the configuration of one user account in Windows7. Hello there again, My solution was temporary.
